Patient Instructions

Procedures – Endoscopy & Colonoscopy

a. Instructions for Endoscopy

  • For this test, patients should come six hours empty stomach.

  • Diabetes patient should not take their regular diabetes medicine on the day of endoscopy. They can take coconut water or lemon water if they feel hungry.

  • Hypertension (Blood Pressure) patients should take their medicines as scheduled.

b. Instructions for Colonoscopy

  • Take light breakfast in morning on day of colonoscopy test.

  • After that, patients should drink the given powder mixed in two liters of regular water slowly over two hours.

  • After passing loose watery motions for 4-5 times due to given medicine, patient will be taken for colonoscopy.

Patient Instructions for Diet/Special Diseases

  1. Avoid Spicy/Oily/Fried food
  2. Avoid Coffee/Excessive Tea Consumption
  3. Avoid Carbonated Beverages (Soft drinks)
  4. No Alcohol/Tobacco/Smoking Strictly
  5. Regular Diet and Sleep Pattern
  6. Reassurance
  1. Avoid Spicy/Oily/Fried food
  2. Avoid Coffee/Excessive Tea Consumption
  3. Avoid Carbonated Beverages (Soft drinks)
  4. No Alcohol/Tobacco/Smoking Strictly
  5. Avoid bending immediately after meal
  6. Not to lie down immediately after meal
  7. Elevate head end of bed by 8 inches
  1. High Fiber Diet (Green vegetables, Carrot, Cucumber, Beet)
  2. Avoid Low Fiber Diet (Potato/Maida/Besan)
  3. Avoid Bread, Biscuits, Chocolates
  4. Plenty of Oral Fluids
  5. Exercise like Brisk Walking/Jogging/Swimming
  1. High Fiber Diet (Green vegetables, Carrot, Cucumber, Beet)
  2. Avoid Low Fiber Diet (Potato/Maida/Besan)
  3. Avoid Bread, Biscuits, Chocolates
  4. Plenty of Oral Fluids
  5. Plenty of Buttermilk/Fresh Curd
  6. Exercise like Brisk Walking/Jogging/Swimming
  7. Meditation
  1. Avoid Spicy/Fried/Oily Food
  2. Avoid Milk
  3. Increase Intake of Fresh Curd/Fresh Buttermilk
  4. Avoid Pain Killers (NSAID group), Can take Opioid group of painkillers if required in consultation of doctor
  1. Stop Alcohol completely and permanently (If you are consuming it )
  2. Avoid Pain killers from NSAID group, Can take Opioid group of painkillers if required in consultation of doctor
  3. Avoid Hepatotoxic Drugs
  4. Salt restricted Diet (2 gms/day maximum)
  5. Avoid high salt containing diet (pickle, papad, bread, biscuits, idli, dhokla, bakery items etc)
  6. Avoid sedative drugs
  1. Family Screening for HbSAg and vaccination accordingly
  2. Vaccination Schedule:
    1. First Dose: Earliest possible
    2. Second Dose: 1 month after 1st dose
    3. Third Dose: 6 months after 1st dose
  3. Avoid Hepatoxic Drugs
  4. No alcohol strictly

General Routine Instructions for Patients & Relatives

  • OPD Timings
    • Kamalnayan Bajaj Hospital, Aurangabad -(Monday to Friday) - 10.00 am to 4.00 pm
    • Ganjewar Gastro & Liver Clinic ,Aurangabad - (Monday to Friday)- 07:00 pm to 09:00 pm
  • After the OPD timings and on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, patients are reported and treated in the Accident Department (Casualty) and Dr. Vaibhav Ganjewar is informed accordingly.
  • Other expert Doctors will check the Patients on the occasion of Dr. Vaibhav Ganjewar's holiday
  • Serious patients and elderly patients will be given first priority irrespective of appointment schedule
  • Bringing your file is compulsory for repeat check-ups or showing reports
  • Kindly co-operate and follow the Hospital Rules in terms of the visit timings, number of relatives and other matters
  • In case of any problem to the outstation patient, first contact the local Doctor and request him/her to talk to Dr. Ganjewar.
