Patient Instructions

Procedures – Endoscopy & Colonoscopy

a. Instructions for Endoscopy

  • For this test, patients should come six hours empty stomach

  • Diabetes patient should not take their regular diabetes medicine on day of endoscopy. They can take coconut water or lemon water if required.

  • Hypertension (Blood Pressure) patients can take their medicines as scheduled.

b. Instructions for Colonoscopy

  • Take light breakfast in morning on day of colonoscopy test

  • After that, patients should drink the given powder mixed in two liters of regular water slowly over two hours.

  • After passing loose watery motions for 4-5 times due to given medicine, patient will be taken for colonoscopy as per given time

Patient Instructions for Diet/Special Diseases

  • To reduce the intake of fried, oily, spicy and chilled foods in the diet
  • Reduce Coffee & Excessive Tea
  • Reduce cold drinks Thumbs-up, Pepsi and other carbonated beverages
  • No Drinking, smoking, and consuming tobacco
  • To take proper meal and sleep regularly
  • Instead of having a full meal twice a day, have small meals for 3 or 4 times a day
  • Avoid meals late in the night
  • If you are overweight, reduce your weight. For this, every day exercise is required
  • Reduce the stress and meditate for it
  • Do not take painkiller medicines yourself (do not take NSAID type of painkillers) (OPOID type of painkiller medicines can be taken)

  • Drink lots of water
  • Regular exercise for at least half an hour daily (for example - walking, swimming, cycling)
  • Maintaining high levels of green leafy vegetables, salad (carrot, cucumber, bit and radish) in the diet (High Fiber Diet)

  • Do not take sleep medicines by yourself
  • Patients should get vaccinations done for hepatitis A and hepatitis B
  • As per the advice given by the doctor, do lever related check-ups from time to time
  • Do not drink alcohol
  • Do not take medicine that harms the liver (herbs / henna / ash)
  • Safe sexual intercourse
  • To test all the members of the family for HbSAg and get vaccination accordingly
  • Vaccination:
    First dose - as soon as possible
    Second dose - 1 month after the first dose
    Third dose - 6 months after the first dose
  • As per the advice given by the doctor, do lever related check-ups from time to time
  • Do not drink alcohol

  • Serious patients and elderly patients will be given first priority
